Jonathan Redeker

On Tuesday August 4th, we had the pleasure of hosting Jonathan Redeker, Orange County Legislator, representing District 2, the Towns of Goshen and Warwick as well as the Villages of Goshen and Florida. A long time Goshen resident, he is also the coordinator for building technology programs and professional development in technology implementation at Goshen Central School.
Legislator Redeker stated he wanted to come to our Rotary Club meeting as a public servant, to be a bridge builder, to see how we could work together to uplift others as a community.
His platform includes several issues also important to Rotary including advocating for health and mental health services, ending food insecurity, finding affordable housing solutions, and ensuring a clean environment and safe drinking water. He also stated that we need to invest more in resources for vulnerable seniors and veterans. Existing programs are underutilized due to the public’s limited awareness, and he feels strongly that there is a need for physical outreach rather than social media.

He has been in the office for about 8 months and is very busy on four committees, including one that is very important to all Orange County residents, Education and Economic Development. This committee looks at the funding and support of the fast-growing Orange County Community College - SUNY Orange and also addresses sustaining the success of big and small businesses and looks to guide the balance of growth to avoid over development in conjunction with the Industrial Development Agency.
Lastly, Redeker made a statement that “people create communities.” How well this meshes with the 2026-27 Rotary International presidential theme, “Create Lasting Impact.” The idea is that rather than quick solutions, we look for multi-year, long-term plans in order to make real changes in our communities that create lasting impact. We look forward to working with all members of our Goshen Community! Club meetings take place at the Goshen Public Library on Tuesdays at 7:30 am.
