Robert C. “Bob” Hulbert
Robert C. “Bob” Hulbert has spent a lifetime serving his country and community. He began his United States Marine Corps service in 1953 after graduating from Port Jervis High School and served as a forward observer radio operator, carrying at least 30 pounds of radio equipment on his back.
In 2024, Goshen recognized his enduring commitment by naming him Grand Marshal of its Memorial Day Parade.
After his military service, Bob continued building a life of purpose. He earned a chemistry degree in 1962 and later returned to school at night to study electronics. At 89, he still worked every day for the Orange County Department of Public Works, where he spent more than 38 years surveying county property and reviewing permit applications.
Bob brought that same dedication to Goshen.
A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion for almost 50 years, he held numerous leadership roles, including junior vice commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1708. He also served as vice president of the Goshen Jaycees and as an umpire, coach, vice president, and president of Goshen Youth League. When girls’ soccer teams were revived, he helped make it happen, motivated in part by his two daughters’ desire to play.

Beside him throughout was Ruth.
As they approached their 64th wedding anniversary in June 2024, their story reflected a shared devotion to family and community. Together, they helped generations of Goshen children grow through sports, scouting, and the arts, leaving a legacy of service built through everyday commitment.
