Dean Scher, PhD, LCSW

Dean Scher has worked in the field of human services in Orange County for more than 45 years.

From 1973 to 1995 he was employed as a psychologist and the director of psychiatric emergency services at Arden Hill Hospital Mental Health Unit.  During that period, he was also a Lecturer in the psychology department at SUNY New Paltz.

From 1995 through 2006 he served as the executive director of Restorative Management, a for profit organization licensed by New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services.

Since 2006, Dean has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster.

Dr. Scher has lectured extensively on issues of adverse childhood experiences and PTSD.  His research has been published in the Journal of Child Sex Abuse and the Journal of Scientific Research. Dean has maintained a part time private practice in Goshen since 1974.

Dean has two grown children. He resides in Westtown, NY, with his wife of 46 years
