Feb. 18, 2020 12:30 p.m.
You are invited to participate in the Annual Dictionary Distribution Project! Goshen Intermediate School Feb. 18, 2020 12:30 PM You need to be there by 12:30 to minimize the sign-in procedure. You will also need a valid government I.D. available! (NYS License is fine) Photos MUST be approved by the Principal/Escort beforehand! The DICTIONARY PROJECT is designed to aid third grade teachers in their goal to see all their students leave at the end of the year as good writers, active readers, and creative thinkers. Our purpose is to provide third grade students in the community with their own personal dictionary. The dictionary is for the children to keep, so they can take it with them into the fourth grade and use it throughout their school career.
A dictionary is perhaps the first and most powerful reference tool a child should own. Its usefulness goes beyond the spellings, pronunciations, and definitions it lists. It is a companion for solving problems that arise as a child develops his or her reading, writing, and creative thinking abilities. Students benefit from an increased self-reliance and resourcefulness inspired by the maxim “look it up”. Teachers benefit by knowing that their students have consistent access to a tool for homework and in class explorations. The project is an opportunity for children to expand their vocabulary and for many to actually own a dictionary.

May 09, 2020
Join us on May 9 at "Skydive the Ranch" in Gardiner, NY for the culmination of our "Drop to Zero Challenge". Rotary Director Jeffry Cadorette challenged the Rotarians in our Zone to increase giving to PolioPlus by 5% this year, and if we did, he would jump from a perfectly good airplane. It appears that we will meet that goal, so on May 9 Jeffry will be skydiving, along with Director-Elect Valarie Wafer, and District 7210 Rotarians DG Cindie Kish, DGE Tony Marmo, DGN Mike Polasek, and PDG Drew Kessler.
