Doris wrote: "Hi, Gentlemen, per yesterday's comments about the family who lost everything in the fire: Members agreed I would get to you officially requesting Board members propose a contribution from our donations fund to the family. I had suggested $100 or $200.or more.Since this family has nothing and folks are contributing clothing and other items, for them to have cash to use as they need would probably be very appreciated" Doris In response, we will hold an impromptu Board Meeting to consider the above request. Please respond. |

Rotaractor, Hannah Ameen, needs our fellow Rotarian help on Saturday, March 24! Good evening Rotary District 7210 Club Presidents! Below you will find out information about Rotaractor, Hannah Ameen and her request for participants in a FREE to register 5K Run and Walk on the campus of Dominican College on Saturday, March 24 at 9AM. She is looking for donations at the door or from clubs themselves (The Rotary Club of Pearl River is giving $500) to support a “Train the Trainer” Program to bring awareness to suicide prevention techniques. Hannah is an active Rotaractor who has gone on service trips to El Salvador to work at a children’s summer camp for 10 days in January as well as working with Habitat for Humanity in North Carolina and Florida during her Spring Breaks as well as organizing and attending Midnight Runs to NYC to feed and clothe the homeless in Manhattan. She has given her college career to “service above self” and this 5K is another example. Any donation is greatly appreciated and participation is even better! To find out more information and to sign-up please click the link. This is a free event with donations gladly accepted! http://courses.dc.edu/dcwalk/ “My name is Hannah Ameen and I am a senior at Dominican College. I am majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Professional Selling. I am working with Rockland County's Department of Mental Health and Rockland County Executive Ed Day as part of my senior project. I have already produced a suicide awareness public service announcement that aired on cable television. Now, I am raising money for Rockland County's "Train-The-Trainer" program by hosting a 5K walk on Dominican College's campus on March 24, 2018. Through this program, a trainer is sent to area schools to bring awareness to suicide prevention techniques. My time at Dominican has been filled with many opportunities. Being a Rotaractor has helped encourage me to give back to those who need it the most.” On a separate note, if there are any Rotaract Clubs that would be interested in getting together with our Rotaract Club at Dominican College, we would be very interested in meeting! |

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
It‘s been an interesting few weeks to say the least regarding our District Conference. Our original plan was to hold our District Conference at the Gideon Putnam in Saratoga Springs. Last Monday we were informed by the management of the hotel that they would not be able to host our conference due to flood damage to the facility. Fortunately, they assisted us in finding an excellent replacement hotel and we were connected with The Sagamore Hotel at Lake George. We visited the facility last week and it is SUPERB! Actually, better than the original facility. The rooms are sumptuous and the four-star setting in Bolton’s Landing on the banks of Lake George is spectacular! After some deft negotiating by our conference Chair PDG David Green we were able to keep the price within a dollar or so of the original offering.
The Sagamore Hotel in Bolton’s Landing is about 45 minutes north of Saratoga. The atmosphere in Adirondack State Park is idyllic. We apologize for the inconvenience and the drama but it was unavoidable.
However, we believe that we have an excellent location for our District Conference. Now we need your support for the event. Please, spend a weekend with us at the historic Sagamore in Lake George. Let’s have some fun and celebrate Our District and Earth Day together!
Yours in Rotary,
District Governor Jim Damiani

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS YEAR'S EVENT:
At the brunch we will be presenting this year’s Hummingbird Awards (see the “I Will Be A Hummingbird” story below for an explanation) to community member Amanda Langseder, local businessman and philanthropist Sal Scancarello, Monticello Rotarian Orshii Boldis, Liberty Rotary Club Secretary and Past President Gary Silverman and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties with our club’s Hummingbird Award.
We will also be recognizing Liberty Rotarians Dr William Silver and Lori Rae Silvers (Paul Harris Fellow Plus 2), and community member Etta Barbanti as our newest Paul Harris Fellows. This recognition acknowledges individuals as outstanding Rotarians who have demonstrated the Four Way Test and performed Service Above Self. The suggested donation for the brunch is $15 and will benefit our club’s Haiti Clean Water Program Sustainability Fund which has been established to provide necessary supplies and support to the 1000 Haitian families that have received water filtration systems as a result of the global grant from the Rotary Foundation. These systems are providing healthy, clean, potable water to as many as 7500 men, women and children in Cap Haitien. All guests will have an opportunity to make a donation to the sustainability fund which will help provide these families with healthy, clean, potable water well past the 4 ½ years that the grant covers.
To make a reservation, please contact committee member Gary Siegel (845 798-2188 or cdtripsLLC@gmail.com) at your earliest convenience. There is a limit of 150 guests and we do anticipate that this event will sell out. Reservations will be accepted until April 24th or until sold out. If you are unable to attend, kindly consider becoming a sponsor and/or making a donation (see attached sponsor and donation form). I WILL BE A HUMMINGBIRD
We are constantly being bombarded by problems that we face and sometimes we can get completely overwhelmed. The story of the Hummingbird is about this huge forest being consumed by a raging wild fire. All the animals in the forest come out and they are transfixed as they watch the forest burning and they feel very overwhelmed….very powerless…. Except for this little hummingbird who says “I’m going to do something about the fire” so it flies to the nearest stream, takes a drop of water, puts it on the fire and goes up and down, up and down, up and down as fast as it can. In the meantime all the other animals… much bigger animals like the elephant… with a BIG trunk, who could bring much more water…. they are standing there helpless and they are saying to the hummingbird, “What do you think you can do? You’re too little…This fire is too big… Your wings are too little…. And your beak so small… you can only bring a small drop of water at a time but as they continue to discourage it, it turns to them without wasting anytime and tells them…. “I’m doing the best I can… I’m doing what I can!...I’m doing my part” In order to make your community a better place, in order to make the world a better place, we must all be hummingbirds.
On behalf of the Liberty Rotary Club, we would like to cordially invite you to to become a sponsor of our club's 3rd Annual Hummingbird Award and Paul Harris Fellow Recognition Brunch to be held at the New Hope Community in Loch Sheldrake on Sunday April 29th from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
This year there is the opportunity for your club to sponsor the event as we will be distributing a "Keepsake Journal" and have Special Placemats for you to send a message to the honorees and/or advertise your business. All proceeds from the sponsorships will benefit the Liberty Rotary Club's Haiti Clean Water Program Sustainability Fund. Attached please find the sponsor form. If your club would like to participate as a sponsor for this year's event, kindly fill out the attached form and send your payment along with the artwork to
Liberty Rotary Club or email information and artwork to cdtripsLLC@gmail.com. Sponsorship submissions are due by 4/19/18. Please make checks out to: Liberty Rotary Club Haiti Clean Water Program Thanks for your anticipated support and we hope to see you on April 29th. Sincerely,
Liberty Rotary Club Recognition Brunch Committee
